If you are suffering from pain or injury, don’t struggle through your day. The physical therapists at Paragon are highly skilled in treating sports or orthopedic conditions. We specialize in overuse injuries and osteoarthritic conditions. We can also help patients who have plateaued with other therapies.
What makes physical therapy unique at Paragon?
We provide top-notch, one-on-one treatments in our calming studio space. Your personalized visits will last 55 minutes and the focus will be on getting you back in action as soon as possible. Our goal is not just to address your injured part, but also how that affects your entire body as well as your performance. Often upon discharge, patients will comment that they are “better than before” they were injured.
Do I need a doctor’s order to start physical therapy?
No. In the state of Minnesota a doctor’s order is not needed in order to begin physical therapy services. However, an order/prescription is needed after 90 days of treatment. Some exceptions apply, so please call the studio for clarification (952) 405-9765.
What type of diagnoses do you treat at Paragon?
We treat orthopedic diagnoses. This includes sprains, strains and pain to joints of the body such as: shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, elbow, as well as neck and back. We specialize in treating dance and sports injuries. At Paragon we combine manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and pain modalities. We use Pilates equipment and principles in rehabilitation and conditioning.
What can I expect at my first visit?
The physical therapist will need your detailed medical history. Information on your current symptoms as well as your goals for recovery will also be required. During this first visit most of the time is spent gathering information and evaluating your body in order to determine a treatment plan.
What should I wear?
Come in exercise clothes. If you are being seen for a shoulder issue you should wear a tank top or sports bra. If you are being seen for a back issue, be prepared to wear a tight tank or remove your shirt so the therapist can fully evaluate the movement of your spine.
What is the benefit of combining physical therapy and Pilates?
At Paragon you are receiving treatment from experienced sports physical therapists. You can have confidence that your condition will be evaluated and cared for with your needs put first. If the physical therapist feels you will benefit from Pilates then some or all of your rehabilitation exercises will be done using Pilates principles and/or equipment. The Pilates principles of control, focus, core stability, and building strength with length integrate smoothly with the neuromuscular re-education and the concept of building proximal stability for distal mobility components of physical therapy intervention.
What have clients experienced?
“The pain in my hip got increasingly worse over the past few months. I was always in pain and had trouble walking. I ended up visiting an orthopedic surgeon who gave me 3 options: cortisone injections, surgery or physical therapy. He did not give very high odds for the therapy, but after talking to the Paragon staff that is the route I choose… and was that a smart choice! After just 3 weeks I can walk without pain. It is amazing how great that feels. Thank you so much! I don’t know if you are the best in the Twin Cities, but in my opinion you are certainly in the Top 1.” ~ Marijolin B.
“I became interested in the ‘power’ of Paragon after cancer surgery this year left me with a frozen shoulder. Pre-surgery, my left shoulder bothered me because of arthritis and tendonitis. Post-surgery, after two weeks in an arm cast, my left arm could not be raised above parallel to the ground. After a few months of therapy at Paragon, I have regained 85% of my left arm movement (and improved my golf game by cutting down on the size of my swing) thereby avoiding surgery. Thanks Paragon!” – Greg C.
